In April 2016, we traveled to Croatia, and began by staying in the mountains in the north at a lovely place called Vuglec Breg, where we had a very cute cabin to ourselves. Early in the morning, I looked over the valley at misty mountains and the vineyards below. It was magical, especially with the orange tile roofs contrasting with the verdant greens. A sketch and photos served as the basis for this painting.
